Azalea Danes is an 18-year-old advocate, writer, and full-time college student studying political science and philosophy. She became involved in political activism following the 2016 election, and began organizing seriously as a member of the NYC Climate Justice movement in 2018. While co-organizing five major climate justice strikes, including the worldwide September 20th Global Climate Strike, she co-founded the NYC Climate Justice Coalition, connecting passionate youth organizers around climate and social justice. She went on to become the lead communications coordinator of Extinction Rebellion Youth U.S., and spearheaded communications efforts for progressive organizing and local political races with TREEage. After leading her community’s development of COVID support and resources, she helped organize Earth Day Live and coordinated communications efforts for the Peaches for Progress Coalition, in support of GOTV efforts for the 2020 Georgia Senate Runoffs. As of February 2021, she has worked at Future Coalition as the Senior Communications Coordinator.
